Slightly Mad Studios are delighted to announce a major new addition to their highly-skilled workforce as Rod Chong has been appointed the studios’ new Chief Operating Officer.

Coming from a diverse background in motorsports, music videos, advertising and media arts, Chong joined SimBin Ltd as a lead producer on the GT Legends sim game in 2004, before moving to Electronic Arts, leading the creation of urban and automotive culture elements for the Need for Speed franchise.

In 2008, Chong was promoted to the position of Creative Director collaborating with multiple development and marketing teams on Need for Speed and Real Racing well as developing programs in the automotive and motorsports industries. He is best know as the founder and director of the influential Speedhunters.com automotive media project and more recently had a strong influence in the reboot of EA’s recently announced Need for Speed game.

“I’m feeling humbled, astounded and excited by the appointment to the role of COO of Slightly Mad Studios. I got my start in the gaming industry with an earlier version of the company and never really stepped too far away from them, even during my stint at EA. The culture of Slightly Mad Studios is all about passion, speed, collaboration and openness,“ Chong commented.

“We are one big proud creative collective, who are deeply passionate about our projects and ruthlessly ambitious with our aims. I’m looking forward to helping the team take our unique organisation and innovative crowd-powered community model into new, even more ground-breaking projects.”
