EGX 2015, which ran last Thursday 24th to Sunday 27th September, has been heralded a huge success, with 75,000 people visiting across the four days of the event. The post-event feedback shows 40% of visitors were attending an EGX event for the first time.

After seven years in London, EGX moved this year to its new home at the NEC, Birmingham. Ideally situated in the heart of the UK, EGX 2015 welcomed huge numbers of visitors from all corners of the nation and beyond who arrived to play upwards of 200 pre-release games. Over 45% of visitors travelled 100 miles or more to attend the show, driving significant trade to the local hotel and entertainment economy.

In addition to the playable AAA and indie games, visitors were treated to a medley of eSports, cosplay, developer sessions, Virtual Reality, retro games, careers advice, merchandise booths, panel discussions, YouTube star meet-and-greets and so much more. EGX 2015 featured the largest collection of games and gaming culture features ever assembled in the UK.

Last week’s event cemented EGX as the UK’s premier platform for video games consumers and the industry to gather in one place to play, compete, discuss, celebrate, work, learn and share in their passion for video games. The length and breadth of the games community was represented, from senior platform holder executives to pro gamers, cosplayers, YouTube creators, streamers, media and of course the gamers themselves. Every year these groups select EGX to showcase their AAA and indie games, reveal major product announcements and host their annual competition finals, trade association meetings and community gatherings.

“The stage is well-and-truly set for EGX to increase its international significance in the global video games event circuit”, said Rupert Loman, founder and CEO of Gamer Network . “Ideally timed just before the lucrative holiday shopping period, the event is a proven platform for driving pre-launch hype and influencing consumer purchasing decisions. 91% of visitors use the show to decide which products to buy”.

EGX continues to demonstrate a very high approval rating, with more than 90% of visitors intending to visit again and recommend the event to friends. The team will be releasing additional statistics and insights in the coming days.

The next event is EGX Rezzed taking place at Tobacco Dock in London from 7th to 9th April, 2016. Tickets will go on sale on Friday 16th October.
