Where is the adventure all going to take you, following Nate’s footsteps? In Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune, the game begins off the coast of Panama, then it moves on to the Amazon rainforest and to an uncharted island off the coast of Sout America. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, is more diverse, from the snow-capped mountain landscapes of the Tibetan Plateau in southernmost China to a museum in Istanbul, Turkey, on to the jungles of  Borneo and then the urban landscapes of Nepal. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception takes place in the streets of London and Colombia, then in a château in France, a castle in Syria, a city in Yemen, and the sprawling deserts of the Rub’ al Khali.

Naughty Dog, the authors of the series, gave the protagonist three main companions. The father figure, Victor Sullivan, who finds Drake when he is a teenager orphan roaming the streets in Colombia. Sullivan is a former U.S. Navy officer, a skilled traveller, able to navigate planes and submarines. Obviously also an adventurer and fighter. The good girl, and future wife, is the investigative journalist Elena Fisher, who evolves with the series into another skilled fighter. The bad girl and Drake’s female alter ego is Chloe Frazer, another tomb rider, obviously sexy and initially selfish and ruthless. Chloe will later turn into a more positive and even heroic character. She is also the only other single-player playable character in the game.

The series has been very much praised by critics and often been likened to Hollywood-level action-adventure movies for its high production values. Now you have time until May 5^th to grab this first free part, and later to purchase the more recent instalments. This obviously being the strategy of Sony, to enlargen its market for the newer additions to the series. Not a bad marketing move, from the point of view of players who will get a bonus experience in any case.
